Okmulgee & Dripping Springs Lake & Recreation Area is located in Okmulgee County in the state of Oklahoma. It is actually two parks located around Dripping Springs Lake and Okmulgee Lake. Dripping Springs Lake was the first designated Trophy Bass Lake in the state of Oklahoma. As you can imagine, the lake offers excellent fishing opportunities, and you can take your boat out on the lake for a better chance at catching a big one. Okmulgee Lake has a spillway that, when flowing, attracts visitors to its shores to watch the beauty of the spillway in action.

Okmulgee & Dripping Springs Lake & Recreation Area also offers a nature trail that is just over three miles long. Part of the trail is ADA-accessible as it runs along the shores of the lake, offering awe-inspiring views to everyone who comes to it. At Okmulgee & Dripping Springs Lake & Recreation Area, you can pick from a variety of camping sites. There are campgrounds at both Okmulgee Lake and Dripping Springs Lake, some of which offer water and electrical hookups. You can park your rig and enjoy views of sunrise and sunset over the lakes.

Driving

Okmulgee & Dripping Springs Lake & Recreation Area is located approximately nine miles south of the town of Okmulgee in Oklahoma. The recreation area is made up of parks surrounding two lakes, Okmulgee Lake and Dripping Springs Lake, so you can enjoy the benefits of being near both parks when you stay in the area. The recreation area is big rig friendly, so you should not have trouble navigating the park in your rig or with your camping trailer.

Parking is something you will want to keep your eye out for. The park has a great many day-use visitors who come to the area to fish, enjoy the water, or view Okmulgee Lake's spillway. As such, parking spaces can fill up before you get there.

When you check in at the recreation area, you are going to want to make sure you know which area your camping space is in. The park has three campgrounds at Okmulgee Lake and two campgrounds at Dripping Springs Lake, so it is easy to get lost trying to find your space.

When you come to the park, you can bring your boat for use on the water, and there are lighted boat ramps at the lakes for you to use and have easy access to the water.

Dripping Springs Lake Campgrounds

There are two campgrounds located around Dripping Springs Lake. These campgrounds offer a combined total of 76 semi-modern RV sites, with hookups. They also have a total of 69 primitive tent camping sites. The campgrounds offer restroom facilities, including ADA-accessible restrooms and showers. There are also picnic pavilions that you can reserve and a playground for children to play at.

Okmulgee Lake Campgrounds

The area around Okmulgee Lake has three campgrounds. Between these three campgrounds, there are 47 semi-modern RV campsites, with electrical and water hookups. One site has full hookups between these three campgrounds. This campground also offers tent sites for primitive camping, and there are 103 of these sites total between the three campgrounds. The Okmulgee Lake campgrounds offer a playground for children to play at. There are restrooms with complimentary shower facilities, so you can rinse off after a day of fun at the lake. Okmulgee Lake offers several other amenities for campers and day-use visitors. There is an ADA-accessible fishing dock. For your boat, there are lighted boat ramps to the lake.

In-Season
Swimming

At Okmulgee & Dripping Springs Lake & Recreation Area, you can enjoy swimming and water sports in Okmulgee Lake, so you might want to bring your swimming trunks in your RV or camping trailer when you come to the recreation area. Water sports are not allowed in Dripping Springs Lake, but you can go swimming in this lake as well, which is predominantly for fishing. If water sports are important to you, the lakes are close together which means easy access.

Boating

You are able to bring your boat with you when you come to Okmulgee & Dripping Springs Lake & Recreation Area, and you will be in good company as many people do. Okmulgee Lake allows for water sports on the lake, so you can enjoy your time in the water. Unfortunately, Dripping Springs Lake does not allow water sports on the water. Make sure to bring your boating equipment when you come in your RV.

Fishing

When you come to Okmulgee & Dripping Springs Lake & Recreation Area, you should make sure to bring your fishing gear in your camper if you enjoy to spend time trying to hook a trophy-sized fish. Dripping Springs Lake in particular offers some impressive fishing as the lake is wooded and is home to trophy sized bass. In fact, the lake was make the first "Trophy Bass Lake" in the state of Oklahoma due to its large sized inhabitants, so make sure to bring your rod in your rig.

Viewing Wildlife

You will have up close views of the wildlife surrounding the lakes when you come to Okmulgee & Dripping Springs Lake & Recreation Area. Sitting by the water or fishing, you might observe a large trout jumping out of the water. Likewise, you might see a bird of prey waiting on the trees lining the shore to catch its dinner. Bring your binoculars in your RV and even your camera so you can see the animals better and take pictures to document your trip.

Picnicking

At Okmulgee & Dripping Springs Lake & Recreation Area, you have plenty of areas where you can enjoy a picnic with family and friends. You can also reserve one of the picnic shelters in the park to host a family reunion or work outing. The park has picnic tables scattered around its grounds, and you can also lay out a picnic blanket by the water's edge to enjoy scenic views, so bring your sandwiches in your RV to eat.

Hiking

When you stay at Okmulgee & Dripping Springs Lake & Recreation Area, there are limited hiking trails available to you, but you can still enjoy your time in nature. There is a nearly four-mile nature trail that you can hike, so bring your boots in your camping trailer to enjoy the trek. The trail includes a half-mile ADA-accessible section, allowing family and friends that can't navigate the rest to have an area by the lake to enjoy.
